Mohammad Abdus Sobhan

 

Country Experience: Pakistan, Yemen, South Sudan, Sierra Leone, Bangladesh, and Algeria, complemented by short-term technical missions in India, Nepal, Vietnam, the Philippines, China, Tanzania, and Nicaragua.

 

 

Sobhan is a senior Humanitarian WASH professional with over 40 years of experience leading humanitarian and development programmes in complex emergencies, conflict-affected, and disaster-prone contexts. With more than 18 years of international leadership experience with Oxfam and other UN and international organizations, he has managed and technically supported large-scale WASH, shelter, and resilience programmes across Asia, the Middle East, and Africa.

 

 

His field experience includes assignments in Pakistan, Yemen, South Sudan, Sierra Leone, Bangladesh, and Algeria, where he has supported refugee, internally displaced, and vulnerable host communities in highly challenging operational environments. He has also completed short-term technical missions focused on technological feasibility studies, demonstrations, and market assessments in India, Nepal, Vietnam, the Philippines, China, Tanzania, and Nicaragua.

 

 

Sobhan brings extensive expertise in strategic programme leadership, humanitarian coordination, urban WASH systems, infrastructure development, O&M management, donor compliance, capacity strengthening, and technical training facilitation. He is recognized for combining strong technical expertise with practical field leadership, collaborative partnership-building, and solution-oriented management approaches that enhance programme quality, operational efficiency, and humanitarian impact.
