Between March and June 2022, Oxfam Consults engaged with the International Organization for Migration (IOM), Transition and Recovery Division (TRD) in Iraq, to conduct a gender analysis of women’s access to durable solutions.

By adopting a comprehensive methodology of primary and secondary data collection, Oxfam Consults was tasked with proposing concrete ideas to improve IOM TRD’s gender responsive programming. This was achieved by:

    • Identifying gender roles and norms that affect access to durable solutions in the communities affected by crises, which includes Internally Displaces Persons, refugees, returnees and host women and men of different ages coming from different ethno-religious groups;
    • Assessing the levels of effectiveness of IOM TRD’s gender mainstreaming approaches and practices.

The findings are being designed to directly inform the gender action planning that will orient the IOM TRD’s future work on promoting gender equality through their programming in Iraq.
